The new purchase of THQ Nordic was the mobile developer HandyGames
Swedish-Austrian THQ Nordic continues to expand actively. The new purchase of the corporation is the German HandyGames, which develops and publishes mobile games.
First of all, HandyGames is known for its frituplein projects: Townsmen urban planning strategy, Clouds simulator & Sheep, a 1941 Frozen Front turn-based strategy game and the arcade game Aces of the Luftwaffe. Recently, the company has been actively expanding its field of activity: it is working on 11 titles for the Nintendo Switch, as well as making games for smartwatches and VR projects.
Under the wing of THQ Nordic, the company will start working as an international publisher for small projects, said THQ Nordic Managing Director Klemens Kreuzer.
“In return, they will get access to our network and infrastructure. By teaming up with HandyGames, THQ Nordic is also entering the territory of the VR games segment, and will also be able to use their mobile games distribution system, one of the most powerful in Europe,” Kreuzer said.
HandyGames was founded in 2000 and now has 50 employees. The company’s games lack stars from the sky, but they show stable results.

Recall that THQ Nordic bought the Swedish studio Experiment 101 at the end of 2017, and at the beginning of this – the German publisher Koch Media together with the game publisher Deep Silver.
In June, the corporation raised $168 million dollars for a new round of purchases. It is unknown exactly how much HandyGames was bought for, but it is quite possible that in the near future THQ Nordic will announce some new deal.
