Instant Games officially launches IAP support (only for Web and Android)
The Instant Games platform of the Facebook social network has been accepting applications for adding IAP to games since May 7. Developers will be allowed to earn from the platform in a traditional way for the industry.
The issue of monetization of HTML5 games in Instant Games was one of the main ones until October last year, when Facebook announced that it was testing advertising and IAP on its playground.
Before that, it was not completely clear exactly how and when Facebook will allow you to earn money from games that collect millions of players. For example, Endless Lake of the Dutch Spil gathered an audience of 12 million in less than a month. And this is not an exceptional case. Golden Boot from Nordeus has 30 million of them.
Advertising functionality began to be deployed at all this year. In March, Facebook announced the opening of access to Instant Games to all teams. At the same time, she announced the availability of the advertising API.
Now the social network is taking the next step. After six months of IAP tests, it officially launches them for teams that have bet on instant games, those that run directly in the messenger without installing an additional client.
Players will be able to make micropayments in two versions of Messenger. The latter, we recall, is an application for communication between Facebook users, within which Instant Games functions. Firstly, in the version for the traditional web. Secondly, in Messenger, downloaded from the mobile app store for Android devices Google Play.
In the web, the income will be distributed as follows: 70% to the authors of the game, 30% to the site. On Google Play, the situation is a little more complicated. The market takes 30% for itself, Facebook takes another 30% of the resulting amount, the rest goes to developers.
There is no information yet about the future appearance of in-game transactions in games for Instant Games on iOS. Facebook only clarifies that they are still exploring monetization options on other platforms.
The announcement of the IAP for Instant Games took place at F8, Facebook’s annual developer conference. Documentation on the implementation of IAP for development teams is open from today. It can be found at this link.
