Tencent will punish cheaters and hooligans by lowering the social rating

The Chinese corporation Tencent will monitor the behavior of gamers in their games. For playing with cheats and offensive behavior, the publisher promised to reduce the social assessment — a parameter by which the Chinese authorities plan to determine the social value of each resident of the country in the future.

This was announced by Daniel Ahmad, a gaming analyst at Niko Partners, on Twitter.

You can increase your social rating by playing regularly, receiving game items and messages about cheaters and other violators of game rules.

What is the social rating in China?

The Social Credit Score (SCS) system should be operational in China by 2020. The evaluation criterion will be the social behavior of the country’s citizens. It is planned to evaluate it by various human activities: from paying bills to communicating with other people.

The rating of each citizen will be publicly available.

Persons with a high rating will receive various privileges, and unreliable citizens will lose some rights.

Tencent, as the largest Internet provider and operator of popular social services in China, participates in the implementation of SCS.

Critics have already compared the initiative of the Chinese authorities with the dystopia “1984” and the British TV series “Black Mirror”, which is dedicated to demonstrating the negative impact of modern technology on people’s lives.
