Monster Hunter: World has become the best-selling Capcom game in history

Capcom publishing house called the sales of the Monster Hunter: World role-playing action the best in its history. Since the game’s release on January 26, Capcom has shipped 7.5 million copies of the game to stores and provided digital downloads on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

“Monster Hunter: World has overcome language and cultural barriers,” the Japanese publisher noted, commenting on record sales.

Thanks to the results of Monster Hunter: World, the total number of copies sold of the Monster Hunter franchise has exceeded 48 million copies, and this figure is likely to grow even stronger after the release of the PC version of the game, which is scheduled for this fall.

The first Monster Hunter was released in 2004 on PlayStation 2. Before the release of Monster Hunter: World, the popularity of the franchise did not go beyond Japan, but the last part of the series provoked a lot of excitement around the world.

For example, Japanese gamers bought 92% (1.2 million) boxes of the game in stores in the opening week, and in the USA Monster Hunter: World became the best-selling game in January, although it was released 5 days before the end of the month.
