Video games earned more than half of Konami's half-year revenue

Konami reported half—year revenues of $1 billion, of which $506 million was generated by video games.

Konami’s video game business revenues in the last half of the year increased by 28.7% compared to last year, and profit — by 24.5%, reaching $169.4 million.

The sources of Konami’s gaming revenue for the most part were mobile titles. The company noted the strong performance of such projects as Jikkyou Pawafuru Puroyakyu and Professional Baseball Spirits A, as well as Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Links and the mobile version of Pro Evolution Soccer 2017.

Yu-Gi-Oh Duel Links and Pro Evolution Soccer 2017 scored over 50 million downloads each by the end of the half-year.

From games for “big platforms” Konami has highlighted a new part of the football simulator Pro Evolution Soccer 2018, which was released on PC and consoles in September this year.

By the end of the fiscal year, the company plans to release a PC version of Yu-Gi-Oh Duel Links and “aggressively promote”  collectible card games as esports.

It should be noted that Konami’s Digital Entertainment division, in addition to video games, promotes the “analog” collectible card game Yu-Gi-Oh Trading Card Games, however, the report does not report on the participation of this product in the formation of the company’s financial results for the half-year.
