Paradox Interactive explained the rise in price of their games

Swedish game publisher Paradox Interactive explained the reason for the price increase for its games in Russia and other countries of the world in May of this year.

Paradox called the price increase “an adjustment for purchasing power in various countries of the world” and apologized to users for this decision.

Disgruntled gamers expressed their indignation on Steam, downgrading a number of Paradox Interactive titles with low ratings and negative reviews.

After that, Paradox CEO Frederick Wester personally apologized to the international community on Twitter.

He admitted that the company had chosen the wrong time and had not prepared the players in advance for the planned price increase.

We did it intentionally. We want our prices to match the purchasing power of these regions and that the cost of our products around the world remains at the same level.

CEO of Paradox Interactive

In addition to Russia, the price increase affected more than 26 gaming markets in countries such as Brazil, Great Britain, China, Japan, South Korea and a number of other countries in Europe, Africa and Asia.

For our country, the price increase for titles and DLC Paradox ranged from 40 to 100%. For example, the cost of the Pillars of Eternity role-playing game has changed from 799 to 1,580 rubles.
