Subway Surfers will make an animated series
Danish studio SYBO has announced the hiring of Hollywood producer Sandra Schwartz and Star Wars Rebels screenwriter Brent Friedman to work on Subway Surfers series.
It is planned that short films will go into production first, and a full-fledged series will be ready by the end of 2017.
Schwartz, who took over as head of the animation department of SYBO, previously headed the animation division of Warner Bros. and worked as a producer on 23 animated series, including Justice League, Batman and Skylanders Academy.
Friedman is known not only as the screenwriter of Star Wars Rebels. He wrote stories for Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars, The Twilight Zone, Halo 4 and, alarmingly, for Mortal Kombat: Annihilation.
The combined downloads of Subway Surfers, launched on iOS and Android in 2012, amount to 1.5 billion today. The game is one of the most downloaded mobile gaming apps on both platforms. At the same time, the project still remains popular. At the end of March 2017, Subway Surfers ranked second in the number of downloads to the world among games.
