Releases of the day: DuckTales, Full Throttle and Starcraft

This April is the month of restarts. The updated Bayonetta and Planescape: Torment have already been released, and on the night of April 18-19, new versions of three retro products became available at once. We decided not to choose which one is closer to our heart: we tell you briefly about each one.

The Disney Afternoon Collection

In fact, this is not a single game. The Disney Afternoon Collection is a collection of six classic eight–bit platformers developed by Capcom based on Disney franchises for the NES platform.

DuckTales, DuckTales 2, Darkwing Duck, TaleSpin, Chip ‘n Dale Rescue Rangers and Chip ‘n Dale Rescue Rangers 2 hid under one cover (more precisely, under one label). The youngest game from the selection turns 24 this year. The oldest – mentioned in the title DuckTales – is 28 years old.

The Disney Afternoon Collection is an excellent example of a re–release: all the games of the project are adapted to modern platforms (including management), the settings allow you to style the picture like an old TV, and the shell contains a few sketches, a full soundtrack for each game and a tutorial.

Full Throttle Remastered

Remaster of Tim Shafer’s quest about the misadventures of the head of the biker clan “Ferrets” Ben. The original project was released 22 years ago, in 1995.

Like the original, the remaster was in development for a year and a half. That’s how long it took the Double Fine Productions team to redraw and rebuild the game.

I have a dual attitude to the project. On the one hand, it’s good that a new version has been released. On the other hand, there is a feeling that the redrawn picture has lost in detail and “lampiness”.

Starcraft

The game got into the selection not quite honestly. According to the blat. No new version was released. She just got a patch with support for the latest versions of Windows and Mac and a new price – 0 rubles.

You can download the game from this link (legally, yes).

We are still waiting for a full-fledged remaster. It will be in the summer.
