The authors of Bingo Showdown were bought by a manufacturer of slot machines

The manufacturer of slot machines and their components Scientific Games has acquired the mobile developer Spicerack, specializing in bingo and social casinos.

The amount of the transaction is not disclosed, as well as whether the studio will retain its brand.

The leader in downloads among all Spicerack projects is Bingo Showdown. According to open Google Play data, the game generated from 1 to 5 million downloads on Android. According to Scientific Games, she is also responsible for most of the studio’s profits. On iOS, the game was in the Top 100 box office apps in 33 regions.

“We are pleased to welcome the talented Spicerack team and its successful bingo game to our growing profile of fast-growing social applications,” Barry Cottle, CEO of the interactive division of Scientific Games, former vice president of Zynga and former executive vice president of the interactive division of Electronic Arts, said in connection with the transaction.

Spicerack was founded in 2007 in Chattanooga, USA. She has released six projects in 10 years. All were in the bingo or social casino genre, and also featured budget graphics.

Of all Scientific Games divisions, sales for the 4th quarter increased compared to the same indicator a year earlier only for the interactive division. The growth was more than 50%. The rest – including the main ones – were losing businesses.

The market reacted negatively to the purchase of Scientific Games studio Spicerack. The day after the announcement of the deal, Scientific Games shares lost more than 4% in price on the NASDAQ stock exchange.
