Today, April 5, the word game Under a Spell by Happymagenta, authors of Into the Dim and Tomb of the Mask, was released. We analyze why it is worthy of attention.
What?
A word game with high “product value”, mahjong elements and levels translated from English by artificial intelligence.
How?
The player gets to the level with the chips. One chip is one letter. The player must, in the required sequence, guess which words are hidden on the screen.
For example, we see five chips: E, R, K, N, A. The word “screen” is made up of them.
From mahjong, the game got the fact that the chips can stand on top of each other. Plus, the game requires you to solve the words in a specific sequence. If you see the word “bread” on the screen, for which the third number is assigned, but you do not see the word “name”, which stands under the second number, the game will not let you guess “bread”.
Why pay attention?
I would single out two reasons.
First: a beautiful and seemingly very expensive game that clearly demonstrates how far ahead verbal titles have gone today. The level of project development is at the level of good three-in-a-row.
Second: the game is built partly with the help of AI. Artificial intelligence helped developers translate the game into other languages. He has selected the right words for 1800 levels in the French, German, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Russian and Belarusian versions of the game. All these levels were originally made manually for the English version. AI is also responsible for the dynamic complexity of the levels Under a Spell.
