Razer will pay gamers for the game with virtual currency
The manufacturer of Razer gaming peripherals will pay gamers for the time spent in games. Razer uses its own virtual currency zSilver as payment.
zSilver is credited through the free Razer Cortex utility for 3 units for every minute spent in League of Legends, DOTA 2, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, OverWatch and Paladins. You can “earn” no more than 900 zSilver per day.
Users registered in the Razer database can exchange the accumulated points for goods and discount coupons of the brand.
For example, the Razer Mercenary Backpack can be exchanged for 130 thousand units of zSilver, and the Razer Mamba Chroma gaming mouse will cost 195 thousand zSilver. In the usual money, a backpack costs $99, and a mouse costs $149.
In the future, the company plans to expand the possibilities of its currency: it will be possible to get coffee on zSilver, go to the cinema, and so on.
Razer has also introduced another type of cyber currency: zGold. They need to be bought for real money at the rate of 100 zGold for $1. You can spend zGold in Razer partner stores, buy games on Steam and make in-game transactions.
Razer tested the currency platform for 6 weeks, during which time users transferred 376 thousand units of zGold in transactions. Thanks to the cyber currency, sales from Razer partners increased by 25% percent.
