Sony captured 57% of the global console market in 2016
Consoles, games and services of the Japanese corporation Sony occupied 57% of the console segment of the world market. Gamers spent $19.7 billion on them.
According to the analytical company IHS Market, Playstation 4 is more than twice ahead of its closest competitor Xbox One in terms of the number of consoles sold: 53 million versus 27.6 million.
In 2017, Sony expects to earn $ 20 billion, betting on the growth of sales of digital copies of console games.
The total market of hardware, software and services for consoles in 2016 decreased by 2.5% and amounted to $34.7 billion. But it is expected to grow by 4.1% to $36.2 billion in 2017.
