The head of Kongregate showed the statistics of the rise of HTML5 in web games
Emily Greer, co-founder and CEO of the Kongregate gaming portal, posted on Twitter a graph of the use of various browser game engines.
Statistics contain monthly data on games uploaded to Kongregate for all 11 years of the resource’s existence. It shows how the monopoly of Flash technology was gradually giving way to competitors. Currently, more than half of all gaming web applications are based on HTML5.
“HTML5 has been the future of browser games for years, and now it has finally become their real one,” Greer wrote.
The Kongregate portal was created by brother and sister Jim and Emily Grier in October 2006. Today, more than 100 thousand free browser games are available on the resource, the monthly audience of the portal has tens of millions of players.
