1APP is working on a cloud-based Android system
Startup 1APP is developing OneOS, a cloud–based operating system that runs any application, including games, without installation.
The system is built on Android. It allows you to run applications not on the user’s device, but on the server.
Thanks to this, users can not only play large projects without downloading them to their Android device, but also run Android games on iOS and desktop systems.
With OneOS, the application can be instantly delivered to any gadget using a link,” 1APP CEO Raheel Hasan told VentureBeat. When you click on the link, the system starts in the cloud, and the application starts within it.
In order to make your own application cloud – you need to put it on 1APP servers. The authors of OneOS assure that developers do not need to add anything to the code of their Android applications.
The platform earns from the developers’ income. She takes 30% of their earnings on the program.
In November last year, Glu Mobile announced its cooperation with 1APP. The company plans to enable users to play their future titles without downloading them.
More than ten years ago, the topic of cloud streaming was already raised. OnLive was founded in 2003. She was engaged in gaming cloud streaming. In 2012, all employees of the company were laid off. Gaikai was founded in 2008. She also specialized in game streaming. In 2012, Sony acquired the company for $380 million. The developments of both services are used in the development of PlayStation Now.
