Facebook announced the best games of 2016
At the end of the year, the Facebook social network traditionally named the best gaming projects of the platform. The main award was given to Gardenscapes by Playrix. Taonga: The Island Farm from Moscow Volka was also recognized as one of the best games. We tell you which projects have received awards.
Game of the Year 2016 according to Facebook
The most important prize is the title of the game of the year. It traditionally goes to a single game.
This time it went to the Flash-ported version of the mobile three-in-a-row Gardenscapes – New Acres from Playrix. The game was released at the end of this year, but is already in the Top 50 highest-grossing games of the social network.
Recall that Clash of Kings from ELEX received this award last year.
The best web games of 2016 according to Facebook
Within this category, this year Facebook has marked eight web projects.
- The Poker Heat poker project from Playtika, which was acquired this year for more than $4 billion. The game has seven tables and nice graphics.
- MMORPG based on the popular Naruto Online anime series from Oasis Games with turn-based combat. Facebook noted that it is a very important platform in the global strategy of this developer.
- Taonga: The Island Farm became the first game of the Moscow studio Volka. The project was released in April of this year. In three months since its release, the game has entered the Top 100 cash projects of the social network. The game is made in the spirit of Robinzon from Pixonic.
- A wargame-styled battler with a meta in the form of a builder and in the setting of the Second World War Liberators from MutantBox was also marked by Facebook.
- EA’s new three-in-a-row Bejeweled Stars on mobile went almost unnoticed. In the version for the social network, the project was simplified. The port was created in HTML5.
- The popular MMORPG for the web League of Angels II from Youzu on Facebook attracted more than 30 million players.
- Take 5 Free Slots slots from Double U Games are distinguished by Disney graphics. The project is clearly aimed at a female audience. The game is in the Top 40 of the highest-grossing projects of the platform.
- Another slot in the selection of the best projects of the year is Slots–Wizard of Oz from Zynga. The game appeals more to the age audience, to the nostalgia of the older generation of Americans. She uses the frames of the 1939 film The Wizard of Oz in the design.
The best mobile games of 2016 according to Facebook
- Pokémon GO from Niantic, which earned about $800 million in six months, also charmed Facebook. The game turned out to be the most viral and notable mobile project, which was talked about a lot not only within the industry.
- Clash Royale from Supercell turned out to be the first truly massive MOBA project on a mobile platform. And one of the highest-grossing. Not surprisingly, Facebook also noted it.
- Facebook also noted the project, which is focused exclusively on the Asian market so far. It’s about the Chinese battler from NetEase.
Games of 2016 for Gameroom
This year, Facebook launched the Gameroom platform, within which the social network also launches native projects.

The best games of 2016 for the Instant Games platform
Instant Games, which works within Messenger, became the second gaming platform launched by Facebook in a year. The social network already has “favorites” here.

The best Facebook integration of 2016
Within this nomination, Facebook highlighted those projects that have made the best use of the social network’s tools within their own projects.
- Genies & Gems from Jam City (formerly SGN) was allocated for login, friend search and sharing.
- Total War Battles: KINGDOM from Creative Assembly was singled out by Facebook for porting the project to a social network using WebGL.
- Shuffle Cats from King was noted due to the fact that the project appeared immediately not only on social networks and mobile, but also within the framework of the Instant Games platform.
The best use of Facebook Live in 2016
- Blizzard was awarded for integrating Live into Battle.net thanks to this, users can stream their gaming sessions in Overwatch, World of Warcraft, StarCraft 2 directly to their feed.
- Zynga noted the daily feature of Texas HoldEm Poker streams in the feed of its community.
- Netmarble Games has started streaming the Seven Knights game on a popular fan page. The first stream collected 14 thousand views. After looking at the results, the Korean company decided to broadcast regularly.
