Such initiatives are undoubtedly of a status nature. But when we were preparing the questions, we were primarily interested in how the developers themselves formulate the task of the project and how much time they spent on its creation. And that’s what the company’s product manager, Justin Shull, told us.

You’ve got a magical album, it’s a great gift for fans of the series and artists, but what was the company’s goal when preparing it?

Justin ShullOur goal was to talk about the creative processes [within the company], to share with the players how our art has evolved over the years.

There are many sketches of early versions of champions that players have never seen. [The album] is a great opportunity to share some of them with our players.

Does the product have a KPI?

We want the players to enjoy the work. We hope this will help them see League [of Legends] from a new perspective. And for those players who have a real library, we wanted to give them the opportunity to get The Art of League of Legends: Volume I into their collection.

And the last question is about its preparation: how many people and how long it was prepared (both printed and electronic versions)?

The project took about a year from the start of work to shipment to our warehouse. The book was the result of a real collective work – many, many artists contributed to it, and a team of about 10 people at Riot invested considerable time in editing, and we worked with a very talented agency that was responsible for creating the layout and printing.

Thanks for the interview!
