The authors of the Worms series received $21.8 million in investments
In Team17, famous for the Worms series and the publication of The Escapists strategy, $21.8 million (£16.5 million) was invested by the investment company Lloyds Development Capital (LDC).
According to MCV, which wrote about the deal, as part of the deal, the investor received a minority stake in Team17. It is assumed that in the future the company will be able to receive more funds and support from LDC, which belongs to the largest retail bank in the UK, Lloyds Banking Group.
Team17 has already spent part of the amount on the purchase of Mouldy Toof Studios, the developer of The Escapists, which has earned about $18.5 million (£14 million) since its release in 2014 (as part of “Early Access” on Steam).
The unnamed amount that remained after the acquisition of Mouldy Toof Studios will go to “accelerate growth plans,” said Team17 CEO Debbie Bestwick.
