CryEngine 5.2 was released
Crytek has released the latest version of the CryEngine engine – CryEngine 5.2, and also announced the opportunity to receive a $1 million grant from the fund for indie developers.

The updated CryEngine also received:
- FBX support (file format for three-dimensional models, used in Autodesk packages);
- adding VCloth 2.0 (a plugin that automatically animates clothes based on the movement of the model on which it is located);
- the function of restrictions on “live” characters (the new feature allows you to “hang” any loads on the animated model, based on them the engine will automatically calculate the new animation “with weighting”);
- new starting C++ templates (added, for example, a third-person template so that developers don’t have to write the camera behavior from scratch every time);
- update center;
- simplifying the launch of a new product;
- the ability to report an error.
More information about the innovations can be found at this link.
However, we do not recommend switching to a new version of the engine yet. The comments are now actively complaining that it turned out to be raw.

Almost immediately after the announcement of the release of the new CryEngine, Crytek also said that it had opened the acceptance of applications for a grant for indie developers.
It is still unclear what amounts can be counted on. The amount of the fund from which grants will be awarded is $1 million.
You can apply for a grant with a project that meets the following requirements:
- must be created on CryEngine 5;
- must be in development;
- there should be no contract signed for its publication/development assistance by a third-party company.
