Facebook conducted a large-scale study among adult users using mobile devices as gaming. It affected residents of twelve regions: Brazil, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Russia, South Korea, Spain, Thailand, Turkey, the UK and the USA. Based on the data obtained, Facebook has identified five modern trends in mobile gaming.

Trend one: Players are everywhere and they can play anywhere

The point is that most gamers today are mobile and can play anywhere.

In the countries listed above, as Facebook notes, the main gaming device is a smartphone. In second place in popularity is PC. Tablets and consoles are seriously lagging behind them.

Note that the session of players from developing countries, on average, is 16 minutes longer than the session of players from developed countries, they also play more often. The average number of sessions per week they have, on average, 1.6 times more.

Trend Two: The face of gaming is changing

The proportion of women among the players is growing. Among mobile players, their number is not far behind the male audience. But among console players, the number of women relative to the male audience is still relatively small.

Paying players are generally more engaged users compared to non-paying users in games. They are much more likely to stay in the game for the sake of the community. The reverse is also true: if community members leave the game, paying users leave for them more often than non-paying ones.

And, of course, the most curious thing. The probability that a paying player will pay to defeat a friend is 2.9 times more than if a non-paying gamer pays for a similar event. The probability that paying users will spend money to accelerate the rapid achievement of the next time is also higher – 2.8 times.

Trend Four: Mobile paying players search and download games from their most trusted sources

What are these sources?

The most popular search resources, according to Facebook, were social networks. Video and photo services were in second place. Chats are in third place, and then – with a solid lag – word of mouth.

That is, it is clear where to buy advertising, right?

Trend five: game prime time starts at 17.00

On average, 43% of adult mobile players are parents (the USA and Brazil are not included in the statistics here, so this figure is true only for the other 10 regions). The peak of attention to games among paying parents is from 17 to 20 pm.
