The world release of Bejeweled Stars took place
After five months of a soft launch, Electronic Arts has officially launched a sequel to the progenitor of the three-in-a-row genre – Bejeweled Stars.
The series, which formed the foundations and rules of one of the most popular casual genres, has received another continuation.
In Bejeweled Stars, as before, the player will have to collect gems in rows. Only, unlike the previous games in the series, the novelty meets modern three-in-a-row standards, which were set in 2013 by Candy Crush Saga. The latter refers to the commission structure, bonuses, the presence of heroes, social binding, and so on.
The path to the release of Bejeweled Stars was, apparently, not an easy one. VentureBeat writes that before the current version of the game was launched into development, the game had survived six or seven prototypes. The game was developed on Unity.
The box office performance of Bejeweled Stars in Canada during the soft launch cannot be called impressive. The game did not rise above 162 places in the box office gaming top. Nevertheless, in the category of puzzles, the game showed stable performance.
The original Bejeweled was released in 2001. The last Bejeweled – Bejeweled Legend – was released on mobile in 2012, but was closed in 2013. Now the EA store supports the Bejeweled Blitz and Bejeweled Classic released in 2011.
