In March, Clash of Clans and Clash Royale earned $251 million
Supercell blockbusters individually earn more per month than the digital console version of Tom Clancy’s The Division.
The analytical company Superdata compared the digital revenues of the mobile and console market hits for March. Mobile hits in numbers earn more.
Clash Royale, which became the highest-grossing mobile game in the world by the end of March, earned $133 million (Newzoo previously wrote about $ 110 million). Another Supercell game – the famous Clash of Clans – earned $118 million.
For comparison, the main console hit of March – Tom Clancy’s The Division – earned $110 million in figure on consoles. But it is important to make a reservation here. The total revenues of all versions of Tom Clancy’s The Division (that is, both on PC and in retail) exceeded $330 million in the first five days of sales alone.
Superdata also noted that last March, total digital sales of games reached $6.2 billion. This is 5% more than a year earlier.
The main driver of growth is the console segment. Over the year, it has grown by 23% in terms of money.
In March, other segments showed growth – mobile, MMO, PC. The only segment that showed a drop in income is social. It has fallen by 10% compared to last year. Analysts attribute this to the migration of the casual segment to the mobile platform.
The company did not tell how much mobile has grown in a year. However, its analysts expect that the mobile games market, which they estimate at an annual rate of $32.8 billion, will grow by 10% this year.
