Leonard Boyarsky left Blizzard for Obsidian, Tommy Palm believes that VR is still too young for free-to-play, and GREE has launched a fund to support VR companies.
- The art director of the original Fallout and the world’s leading designer in Diablo III, Leonard Boyarsky, moved to Obsidian. He now works with Tim Cain at the company. They have previously worked together on games such as Fallout, Arcanum and Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines.
Tim hopes that the new employee won’t talk too muchIt’s still too early to create free-to-play products for VR,” says Tommy Palm, a former King game designer and now CEO of Resolution Games studio.
- In order for free-to-play to bring a lot to VR, you need a large user base, which is not here yet, or an extremely hardcore audience that is ready to pay very well,” Palm says. It’s funny, but Tommy himself has already released two shareware “virtual” projects by now.
- GREE has launched a $12 million GVR Fund aimed at supporting companies involved in creating projects for virtual reality and augmented reality. The Foundation has already started its activities by financing the VRChat Inc and Spaces, Inc. platforms.
