Rumors about the death of Rodeo Games turned out to be greatly exaggerated
A few days ago, a former employee of Rodeo Games said that the Warhammer 40K: Deathwatch project is no longer supported, and the studio itself has been disbanded or is close to it. The information turned out to be false.
The message about the “death” of the studio was denied by the co-founder and creative director of Rodeo Games Ben Murch in a letter to the Touch Arcade resource.
Here is the translation.
“Since in the last few days the press has been publishing false information, and we began to receive questions about the future of Rodeo, we decided that it was best to tell what was really going on.
As reported, part of the team left the studio in November, after we released the Deathwatch version for iOS and PC. Since that moment, the core of the team has been working on versions of Deathwatch for new platforms, one of which we will soon introduce!
Despite the fact that Deathwatch is the best and most successful of those games that our studio has released, changes in the market have led to the fact that we were unable to continue development as originally planned. To this were added some personal problems within the team. Therefore, now Rodeo Games is taking a break in the development of new titles. The team will continue to support existing projects.
We would like to thank all our fans, especially those who have been with us from the very beginning. We would also like to say thank you to the Games Workshop team who entrusted us with their IP and supported us over the past few years. Without them, we would not have been able to achieve the commercial success and positive criticism that accompanied our studio in these 3 years.
We will tell you about the plans for future releases when the time comes. We’re going to continue to make games that we like for the people who love them.”
