Glu’s revenue has fallen (although profits have grown), Merged! scored 1 million downloads in a week, and one of the creators of Adventure Times released a mobile game.
1. Glu Mobile has published financial statements for the past year. It turned out that the company’s profit by the end of 2015 reached $250 million – 1% more than in 2014. However, after deducting all costs, it turned out that the company went into negative territory: the loss amounted to $ 7.2 million. For comparison, 2014 ended with a net income of $8.1 million.
2. Merged! Gram Games studios downloaded 1 million times a week. The toy has a nice minimalistic design and non-banal mechanics. The player puts colored dominoes on the field. When matching 3 identical checkers, they merge into one, with a large number of points. And so on until they merge into the letter “M”. The authors of the game, a startup from Istanbul, hope that Merged! the tetris-like 1010 will overtake the downloads!.
3. Cartoon Network Studios has launched a mobile game based on the animated series Lakewood Plaza. It’s called OK K.O.! Lakewood Plaza. One of the co-producers was Ian Jones-Quartey, the author of the storyboards for Lakewood Plaza itself, as well as for Adventure Times and Steven Universe. The second co-author was the creator of the Regular Show Toby Jones (Toby Jones).
