SuperData: in 2015, games earned $61 billion
Last year was a record year for the gaming industry. The total volume of the digital gaming market grew by 8% and reached $61 billion for the first time. This is reported in the report of the analytical company SuperData Research.
Of the $61 billion, mobile accounted for 42%. Sales in this segment amounted to $25.8 billion, which is 10% more than last year.
The top three most profitable mobile games included, in descending order, Clash of Clans ($1.345 billion), Game of War: Fire Age ($799 million) and Puzzle & Dragons ($729 million). Candy Crush Saga took fourth place ($682 million).
The company’s experts also noted that console games showed the greatest growth. Sales in this category increased by 34% over the year and reached $4 billion. But the indicators of social games and games with a paid subscription fell by 0.8% and 4%, respectively.
