How to manage the gaming community during the holidays?
What should a community manager do if the entire development team went to celebrate the New Year? In response to this question, the Gamasutra resource published detailed instructions. We share a retelling.
Community management is a job that requires constant attention. This is especially true during the New Year holidays: players will just have free time that they want to spend in your game. How to manage the community when there is no one in the office?
Collect contacts
Make sure you have the contacts of those you can contact if something goes wrong. This:
- your immediate supervisor;
- your team members;
- leads of the IT department, PR department and customer service department;
- contact persons of departments in other cities and countries.
Get ready
Check with the customer service department if there are any points that you need to pay attention to (especially scandalous players, possible spam attacks, planned work with the server). Consult with the project lead, which pours are planned (if planned) during the holidays. If you have not yet installed the software for remote work with the community on your home computer, do it.
Enlist the support of the players
Find active players with whom you can manage the community. It is not necessary to transfer the rights to manage game forms and other things to them – just ask them to report problems in the following areas:
- game chat;
- external chats and forums (including discussion on resources like Steam);
- Facebook insta-social networks (Facebook, Vkontakte, Twitter, Instagram, etc.);
- the game itself (bugs, problems, and so on).
Don’t forget to rest
Community management, as already mentioned, is a job that requires constant attention. But this does not mean that you need to turn into a squirrel in a wheel. So (and this is the most important thing) do not forget to take time for yourself, your family and a good rest during the holidays.
