Gameloft completely redrawn Heroes of Order & Chaos
For the third anniversary of its own mobile MOBA, the French company Gameloft decided to fundamentally redesign the graphics of the game.
It’s not just about changing the resolution of textures.
Firstly, developers plan to replace all the objects in the arenas and character models.
Secondly, it was decided to change the style of the game. Now the project will be graphically closer to DOTA 2 and World of Warcraft, which are different bright textures that do not pretend to be realistic.
The changes will also affect the menu and UI.
Ilya Kazakov, Gameloft’s PR manager, explains such a large-scale update of the project with the company’s desire to “make a gift to a huge and active community of players.”
According to him, “we are not considering the option of developing a new part of the game at the moment, MOBA is not the genre of games where you need to release a new game every year.”
Ilya assures that changing textures and models will not affect performance. On the contrary, some of the technical aspects are optimized.
In general, such a move from Gameloft is very interesting and non-standard, both for the mobile and for the gaming industry. In our memory, only Blizzard took such measures, taking up a partial graphics update to World of Warcraft.
Be that as it may, we are sure that over time we will increasingly encounter such practices. The release of a sequel to the game-service is indeed a risky and far from the cheapest enterprise. Updating the visual side here seems to be a kind of compromise, on the one hand, allowing the game to be at the level of modern projects, and on the other, removing the problem of the need to transfer loyal players from the old project to the new one.
However, with loyal players, not everything is so obvious. Radically changing the style of the game, there is a risk to scare away a loyal audience.
Play the updated Heroes of Order & Chaos, “if everything goes as planned,” it will be possible already in mid-December.
