Codemasters replaced Bandai Namco with Germans from Koch Media

The British developer and publisher Codemasters has changed partners. If earlier the company’s games were published by the Japanese Bandai Namco, then the Germans from Koch Media will already be responsible for next year’s line.

As it became known today, on November 16, Codemasters and Koch Media signed an agreement on global distribution and joint publication. According to him, the Germans received the rights to the sole publication of the Codemasters 2016 game line on the territory of the EBWA (Europe, the Middle East and Africa), as well as the exclusive right to co-publish these projects with the British in the Americas.

Despite the fact that it was about both the publication of physical and digital copies, it remains unclear whether the deal concerns the mobile segment of the Codemasters business. In other words, it is not yet known whether the British will decide on their own how to deal with mobile titles, as before, or whether they will be published by Deep Silver, owned by Koch Media.

What prompted Codemasters, which exclusively owns the rights to create Formula 1 games, as well as titles such as DiRT, GRID and Operation Flashpoint, to refuse to cooperate with Bandai Namco is also still unknown.

Codemasters was not very well represented on the mobile market until recently. The company, together with Chillingo, published the Battle Decks card game, and also – independently – released mobile versions of Colin McRae Rally and F1 Race Stars.
