Subway Surfers reaches 1 billion downloads
The endless runner Subway Surfers, created by small Danish companies Kiloo and Sybo Games, has surpassed the mark of 1 billion downloads.
Released in 2012, the title became the fourth most downloaded game in the world, according to an official press release. Previously, only Candy Crush Saga, Fruit Ninja and Angry Birds reached 1 billion downloads.
As he writes PocketGamer.biz , 65% of downloads were on Android, 30% on iOS, the remaining 5% were shared between Windows Phone and Amazon platforms.
Most of the downloads came from countries such as Brazil, Russia, India, China, Turkey and Indonesia. And this despite the fact that the game was distributed only in two languages – English and Chinese.
As noted in an interview with our British colleagues, Kiloo Vice president for production Jeppe Bisberg (Jeppe Bisbjerg), the companies did not buy traffic, the project gained 1 billion downloads on organic.
The DAU of the game at the moment is a solid 27 million (in January, however, it was 35 million). Additions to the game are released every three weeks. The creators of the title are not interested in creating sequels, as well as merchandising.
By the way, a few years ago we published a detailed analysis of the game on App2Top.ru .
