Rumor: EA is going to buy the authors of "The Witcher" (UPDATED)
The company Electronic Arts is going to buy the studio CD Projekt RED, the creators of the game series “The Witcher”. Information about this was received by the editorial office of the DSOGaming resource from a person who introduced himself as an employee of the Polish studio.
The alleged CD Projekt RED employee reported the following: “Our bosses are probably discussing a possible takeover with Electronic Arts. At the moment, representatives of Electronic Arts are in our office and are meeting with the company’s executives. We’re not planning any releases in the near future, so it’s definitely not related to the release of games, so the only possible reason why the guys from EA are with us now is that they want to buy us.”
As a confirmation that he works on CD Projekt RED, the DSOGaming informant provided a payroll. The resource, however, calls for treating the news skeptically. No official confirmation of the purchase has yet been received from either EA or the Polish team.
Payroll of a prospective CD Projekt RED employeeupdate
The leading community manager of CD Projekt RED, Marcin Momot, said in his Twitter feed that the alleged employee apparently has more information about the deal than the founder of the company. In other words, hearing is a duck, no more.
@astreamz Just bumped into Marcin Iwiński – it was new to him. I guess the “informer” has better insight than the @CDPROJEKTRED founder. :)
