Konami closes 31 mobile titles in Japan
On September 10, gaming giant Konami will begin removing its premium projects from the Japanese market from the App Store.
The “sanctions” will affect 31 titles, most of which, according to analyst Serkan Toto, either represent outdated or frankly strange projects.
The company is not going to remove shareware titles, which are one of Konami’s main sources of income today. Also, the English versions of premium products will apparently avoid deletion.
At first glance, such measures may seem like another strange act by Konami, which, after the restructuring began this spring, regularly “pleases” with scandals. Nevertheless, the removal of third-rate applications from the store seems to us to be a completely understandable desire, given that such garbage not only does not generate revenue, but also negatively affects the company’s brand. Moreover, Konami is not the first company to decide to delete its old library. Earlier, Sega also spread about such intentions. In turn, Square Enix, which does not yet have strong free-to-play projects, continues to release controversial ports of its iconic games.
