Distimo about the monetization of applications in the world
It is most profitable to buy installations in Japan, South Korea and Australia. In other countries, the difference between the download revenue and the installation price is minimal, says Distimo.
The other day Distimo shared a large study on monetization. You can find a brief version of it in Russian just below.
Free-to-play as a business model dominates the world. However, if you have a paid application, then it has the most chances to earn in Germany.
Since January 2012, the mobile app market has changed radically. IAP from free apps then generated only 46% of all revenue from the American App Store. In November 2013, they already accounted for 81% of the market.
The highest ARPD (average payment per download) on the App Store is in Japan. It is $5.32. In Russia, it is $1.30.
ARPD on iPad is higher in almost all regions than ARPD on iPhone. Moreover, for example, in the USA it is almost twice as large.
However, the iPhone still brings more money in most regions than the iPad. But most likely, this situation will change soon. Already, in Australia, Canada, the UK and the USA, the difference between the income generated by these devices is minimal.
In each individual case (concerning a particular game), ARPD can be very different. For example, the average payment from downloading the Jewel Mania game from TeamLava in Australia is $6.65, and in Japan “only” $2.03.
The most interesting place of the study is the difference between ARPD and CPI by country. So, according to Distimo, ARPD is higher than CPI in most countries. Only here the difference in the USA and Italy is minimal. But in Japan, South Korea and Australia, it is very significant. It comes to a few dollars.
