Microsoft spends $1 billion a year to attract third-party games to its Game Pass subscription
This was stated by Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer in an interview with Windows Central.
One of the company's main strategies now is to attract "all types of games." It is important for the company to have both AAA titles and unknown indie projects in the Game Pass.
"Since we have a platform and we have a subscription, a cornerstone part of our strategy is to increase and retain the audience, regardless of which games we are talking about," Spencer stressed.
Despite the significant spending, he called the Game Pass "financially viable." According to Spencer, the service brings money to the company.
