Only 4% of Japanese players have tried gaming subscription services
Despite the fact that Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo have services that open subscription access to games, there is no need to talk about a high level of penetration of the service even in Japan.
According to a report that fell into the hands of our Chinese colleagues with GameLook, only 4.3% of players in Japan have ever used such services. In fairness, 80% were satisfied with the experience.
For comparison, the same number of players aged 10 to 50 years — 4.6% — resorted to using cloud games. However, a smaller number of respondents remained satisfied — 76.6%.
By the way, according to the same study, 25.3% of respondents paid for games in figure. Most are happy to be able to buy games without leaving home, but some users complain that they do not have the opportunity to resell a digital asset after passing.
