There are not enough games and discounts need to be compensated — Asian users are dissatisfied with the new PlayStation Plus subscription

The launch of Sony’s updated subscription service is not going very smoothly. On May 24, it started working in Asia, and almost immediately local users started complaining about problems.

There are three key complaints.

1. Most players are outraged that they have to pay extra for switching to new, more expensive levels (Extra or Premium) if they previously bought PlayStation Plus at a discount.

“For example, you purchased a year of PlayStation Plus with a 25% discount for $45,” explains one user. “To upgrade to the Extra level, you will have to pay $100 – $45 = $55, not $100 – $60 = $40”.

2. In addition, when switching to a new level, you must pay for the entire duration of the current subscription. According to the players, it is impossible to upgrade for a month or a year. However, a significant number of people have a subscription purchased for many years to come, sometimes even for decades.

3. There were also much fewer games in the service than Sony promised — 269 instead of 700. But perhaps, over time, the company will add the missing titles.
