The authors of NeoWars have invented hybrid monetization
The developers of the new strategy game NeoWars have proposed a compromise type of monetization.
Despite the victory of free-2-play in mobile, there are developers who are dissatisfied with this type of monetization. On the one hand, they understand that paid applications are not being bought today. On the other hand, they consider this model unfair to the player.
What to do?
A curious way out of the situation is offered by the developers of the NeoWars strategy. They have invented a new – hybrid – type of monetization. Its essence is as follows – every time a player buys an IAP, by a few percent (tenths of a percent?) The Retron Converter scale is being filled in the game. When it is 100% full, the game switches to premium mode without IAP. Viewing ads in the game also fills this scale.
As a result, the game turns out to be free in fact, but it cannot “milk” the user endlessly, but only offers to get a premium experience for a certain number of payments / ad views.
The project itself has not yet been released, so it is not yet possible to see how hybrid monetization actually works.
