The creator of the World Wide Web said that he believes in the potential of the metaverse
Tim Berners-Lee shared his opinion in an interview with Bloomberg. He clarified that the metaverse and virtual reality in general are unlikely to replace the Internet in its modern form, but they will become part of its future.
Berners-Lee recalled that before the Internet was not fast enough for online movies, and therefore few people considered them something worthwhile. But times have changed. Berners-Lee hopes something similar will happen to the metaverse. For example, it will become commonplace for people to watch movies in virtual worlds.
Berners-Lee has previously spoken out in support of NFT. Last June, he sold the source code of the Internet in the form of an NFT token for $5.4 million.
