About 35% of developers use video advertising to monetize games, according to the analytical company Millennial Media in its global market research.

The number of paid games and applications is decreasing, and competition among shareware projects is growing, Millennial Media found out. In 2013, paid projects accounted for 45% of the total, and in 2014 — only 35%. This means that more and more developers rely on advertising and IAP to make a profit.

Thus, the number of developers who monetize games, applications or mobile sites in one way or another has grown — from 73% in 2013 to 85% in 2014.

At the same time, video advertising is the fastest growing marketing sector. Millennial Media does not provide data for 2013, but it is known that in 2014 35% of developers resorted to video advertising - and some of them, like Hipster Whale, with great success. Recall that the indie studio managed to earn $ 1 million in video advertising in a short time.
