The president of Tapjoy was removed from office
The former head of games at Disney became the executive director of the advertising mobile platform Tapjoy. Mihir Shah was told “bye”.
As it became known yesterday, the new president and CEO of Tapjoy was Steve Wadsworth, former president of Disney Interactive Media Group, a division of The Walt Disney Company, which is responsible for game development. Uadsvov headed it for 11 years until 2011. A year ago, Steve became the director of Tapjoy, and, in fact, has now been promoted.
As for Mihir Shah, who has reoriented the company from Facebook to mobile platforms in three years, then, as far as can be judged from Tapjoy’s press release, they said goodbye to him. And very cold. It is difficult to speak unequivocally about the reasons for this: the press is rarely allowed to the inner kitchen, but it can be assumed that it was removed for two reasons.
The first is the drop in revenue from the network, which Glu Mobile recently talked about. We have already written about this in detail, but in short: Apple consistently squeezes Tapjoy and similar networks from its market. As a result, publishers using the services of advertising incentive networks are noticeably losing profits.
Second: despite a large number of meetings over the past year with various large gaming companies (including GREE), no one has bought Tapjoy. In turn, the board of directors of the network, judging by the data of Tesgish, was very interested in this.
It is still unclear what Mihir Shah will do after his resignation.
