Unity has announced its "strongest ever" third-quarter results, attributing the success to its AI-powered ad network, Vector

Unity has reported its most successful third quarter to date, largely due to a significant 126% increase in revenue from its AI-driven advertising network, Vector. This achievement marks Unity's first quarter of profitability under generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) since it became publicly traded in 2020.

Additionally, Unity has reportedly entered discussions with Silver Lake, a private equity group, and Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund. These entities were participants in the $55 billion acquisition of Electronic Arts. "The effects of our flywheel strategy are evident," stated Unity's CEO and president, Matt Bromberg. He noted that the increase in creators on the platform boosts game creation, which in turn necessitates heightened advertising for game discovery.

Key Figures

  • Total Revenue: $622 million, reflecting a 32% increase year-on-year
  • Create Solutions Revenue: $165 million, representing an 8% increase year-on-year
  • Grow Solutions Revenue: $457 million, a rise of 44% year-on-year
  • GAAP Net Income: $122 million, with a profit margin of 20%

The revenue from Grow Solutions, which includes the Vector platform, saw a 44% increase to $457 million compared to the previous year. This was partly counterbalanced by a downturn in IronSource Ads network performance since the network's discontinuation in Q2.

Revenue from Create Solutions climbed 8% to $165 million, spurred by increased subscription sales. However, offsets included reduced cloud and hosting revenue following a restructuring of Unity's portfolio last year. "Create Solutions revenue was up 8% year-over-year, led by subscription revenue, despite a decline in cloud services due to our 2025 portfolio adjustments."

Strategic revenue surged by 59% year-on-year, totaling $597 million, whereas non-strategic revenue dropped by 73%, from $95.7 million to $25.5 million. These figures predominantly include revenue from IronSource and Supersonic, which was sold to Tripledot Studios for $40 million in August.

In their acquisition talks with a group of investors, Reuters reported that Unity's valuation discussions were centered on a $25 billion estimate prior to the announcement of its latest financial figures. The results lifted Unity's market value to about $21.5 billion, with shares experiencing a 4% rise in after-hours trading.

"Unity is collaborating with an investment bank to consider various strategies following the investor interest," Reuters sources indicated. "Although no agreement is final, the conditions and plan remain subject to change."
