Earlier this year, Denmu set an objective to create its inaugural fund with a target of $50 million, as outlined in an article by GamesIndustry.biz. The company has now successfully closed the fund, exceeding its initial expectations.

CEO Ryan You remarked, "Our aim with Denmu was to support games with distinct creative visions and foster enduring partnerships with developers. Exceeding our target enhances our ability to do so."

He further explained that game developers require a mix of funding, production aid, and player engagement. Denmu's role is to comprehend these specific requirements and establish a beneficial partnership for both the game developers and the studio in the long term.

In a previous discussion with GamesIndustry.biz in June, it was revealed that Denmu had invested in numerous projects, including The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy, Blue Protocol: Star Resonance, Bleach: Soul Resonance, Labyrinth of the Demon King, MotorSlice, and Silly Polybeast.

Recently, Denmu announced investments in Fuse Games located in Guildford and its first title, Star Wars: Galactic Racer, as noted in a report on Fuse Games. Additional investments include Maverick Games' debut racing game, Clutch, in collaboration with Focus Entertainment, and Kyle Thompson's Well Dweller, which is released by Denmu's partner, Top Hat Studios.

Furthermore, Denmu has invested in Dark Star Games' DABA: Land of Water and has joined as a strategic partner in PlayStation's China Hero Project, offering backing to individual projects initiated by Chinese developers.

Ryan You previously mentioned to GamesIndustry.biz that the initial Denmu fund is "just a prototype" rather than a catalyst for industry-wide change.

He emphasized that the long-term vision is to bridge the gap between capital sources and the gaming sector, a crucial requirement. Many investors are interested in supporting the gaming industry, having grown up with video games, yet they face challenges deploying funds without industry involvement.

With numerous venture capitalists withdrawing, Denmu aims to offer a novel method for capital infusion into the gaming sector, benefiting both investors and the industry.
