The developer of the Metroidvania game FLASHLOOP is looking for an experienced publisher willing to invest in marketing

New content in the category "Looking for an Investor/Publisher". Today, we're talking about a project in the spirit of the Metroid series. It's called FLASHLOOP and is being developed by solo developer Evgeny Yuzhny.

About the Team

My name is Evgeny. I'm a solo developer. I work a full-time job unrelated to gaming, and during my free time, I work on the game.

An interesting detail: when you do everything in the game yourself, your relationship with the game becomes much more "personal." Motivation is higher, love is stronger. Additionally, in my opinion, when you do everything yourself, there are fewer risks of the project being abandoned.

I have been working on the game for several years, and I've witnessed quite a few team projects that started around the same time have already "died." Some artist was drawing, then said, "I'm leaving and forbid you to use all my sprites, drawings, etc." Others couldn't find funding for the team, or a programmer left. Constant turnover demotivates the rest of the team. But solo developers—most of them—continue because no one leaves, takes their part of the work, or steals the code or idea.

About the Project

FLASHLOOP is a 2.5D Metroidvania on Unreal Engine 4, inspired by games like Metroid and Flashback. Half of the game is currently complete. The main core of the game is finished. The only thing left is to fill the world and make it a bit better. There is no demo available publicly, only a closed version that I showcase at various exhibitions.

About Gameplay/Mechanics

The game features several intriguing mechanics and elements. For instance, Shift Layers allows the character to move from the foreground to the background and vice versa.

There is a weapon called the Ladder Gun, which shoots steps that the character can jump onto to reach previously inaccessible areas, and the RailGun for those who love precision and power.

You can upgrade weapons in the game and try different builds. For example, you can upgrade bombs significantly so that the explosion radius covers half the screen.

I also placed a significant emphasis on high-quality and responsive controls.

About the Target Audience

The target audience for the project is Metroidvania enthusiasts. The closest benchmark and inspiration are Nintendo's Metroid. I'm also inspired by the classic Flashback, but my primary goal is to make a quality Metroidvania game.

About the Business Model

The sales expectations are quite pessimistic. Not many people know about the game, and there's a concern that no one ever will. However, the vast majority of those who have played it at various exhibitions praise the game, saying, "This game needs to be completed; it's a good one."

About the Metrics

Currently, the game has over 3,000 wishlists on Steam. By publishers' standards, this figure equals: "The game has no wishlists." I don't have specific measurements for the game's median but only indirect data. Over several exhibitions, a few dozen players completed the game demo, and that's one and a half hours of gameplay.

Who I'm Looking For

I'm not looking for development funds. I'm ready to sign with a publisher for marketing: i.e., the publisher doesn't spend money on development but only on promoting the game. However, the publisher must be experienced and understand what and how they plan to do.
