In the Netherlands, a proposal has been made to almost completely ban online gambling advertising

The Dutch government has unveiled a five-year strategy to reduce harm from gambling. One of the proposed measures within this strategy is a significant restriction on online gambling advertising.

According to the document, if the strategy is approved, almost all online gambling advertising could be banned in the Netherlands, with the exception of "limited exemptions designed to ensure visibility only for legal operators."

The authorities are also considering reducing the number of online licenses issued, as well as banning or partially restricting high-risk games and mechanics. However, Dutch officials have decided against increasing the minimum age for participating in high-risk gambling to 21, fearing that young users might move to illegal platforms.

Furthermore, the country may introduce a unified deposit limit for online gambling and increase oversight of illegal operators.
