Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, known for his extensive experience at CD Projekt, believes that while artificial intelligence has a beneficial role in game development, it should not supplant human creativity.

During a conversation with Eurogamer, Tomaszkiewicz explained that his recent studio, Rebel Wolves, utilized AI to simulate voice lines in their new RPG, The Blood of Dawnwalker, before professional voice actors were engaged. This AI application was intended to enhance the development process.

"We employed AI for voice tests before commencing actual recordings because, based on my previous projects, it's crucial to get an early sense of the voices for better iteration and testing," Tomaszkiewicz noted.

Once the narrative was established and deemed satisfactory, Rebel Wolves proceeded with official recordings. "This is how we integrated AI at our studio, and it seems quite sensible," he stated, emphasizing the supportive role AI should play without replacing humans.

He elaborated that, although not opposed to AI, he is cautious about its current capabilities and ethical implications. "I'm not against AI entirely, but it should advance to assist like Google Translate does, rather than infringing on creators' rights by generating work based on their creations," he commented.

Tomaszkiewicz stressed that AI cannot replace the innate creativity of people. "AI can support, but not substitute creative individuals. I don't think that games crafted exclusively by AI will have soul. I simply don't believe it," he remarked.

After 17 years at CD Projekt, Tomaszkiewicz departed in 2021. His contributions include involvement in the Witcher series, culminating as game director for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and its expansions, before taking on the role of design director for Cyberpunk 2077, eventually becoming VP of game development.

In 2022, Tomaszkiewicz launched Rebel Wolves and secured investment from NetEase by the year's close.
