Microsoft has refuted claims that U.S. retailers such as Target and Walmart have taken Xbox products off their shelves

An Xbox Series X and S side by side

Microsoft has strongly denied reports suggesting that US retailers have stopped selling its Xbox Series X and S consoles. The company asserts that prominent retailers "remain committed partners for Xbox consoles, accessories, and games."

Speculation arose after Costco allegedly discontinued sales of Xbox consoles both online and in-store across the US and UK. This prompted rumors that other major chains like Target and Walmart might follow suit, supported by images shared by users indicating potential clearances of Xbox stock.

In a rebuttal, a Microsoft spokesperson told Windows Central that these rumors are incorrect, reiterating that "Target and Walmart, among other retailers, remain committed partners for Xbox consoles, accessories, and games."

The speculations emerged alongside two recent Xbox price increases in the US. Additionally, the Xbox Game Pass subscription cost has been raised. The Xbox Game Pass Ultimate tier now costs $29.99/£22.99 per month, up from $19.99/£14.99.

This price adjustment, according to Microsoft, supports an expanded offering, including Fortnite Crew (worth $11.99/month) and Ubisoft+ Classics (valued at $7.99/month). It also enhances the quality of Xbox Cloud Gaming streaming and provides access to over 75 new releases annually, such as Call of Duty: Black Ops 7.
