In China, the use of misleading information in game advertising will be banned
The China Audio-Video and Digital Publishing Association (CADPA) has updated the standards for game advertising in the country. One of the new provisions aims to combat misleading ads targeting players.

Starting tomorrow, February 6, game companies will no longer be allowed to engage in misleading advertising. Specifically, they are prohibited from showing non-existent gameplay and events in their ads, using footage from third-party projects, manipulating ratings, and embellishing the technical state of a game.
According to the GameMeca portal, the regulator is also tightening the requirements for ad closure scenarios by users. Pop-up ads must now have a clearly visible "close" button, and games cannot begin downloading onto devices without the gamer’s consent. Additionally, it is prohibited to use ambiguous labels and inscriptions intended to coerce players into clicking on ads or following links.
GameMeca reports that if companies violate these advertising standards, they could face warnings, fines, advertising bans, or even the suspension of their game operations in China.
