CI Games: LiveOps for premium games is a necessity
CI Games announced that the overall sales of its games have increased thanks to systematic updates and player feedback. This was reported by the company president Marek Tyminski in an interview with the Polish agency PAP Biznes.
Lords of the Fallen
According to him, despite challenging market conditions, CI Games is currently "in the best shape in its history." This is supported by financial results: from January to September 2024, the company earned 68.9 million PLN (approximately $17 million) — 16.55% more than the previous year.
A significant portion of this amount — specifically 66% — was generated by the soulslike game Lords of the Fallen, which was released in October 2023.
Initially, the project struggled with technical stability, which led to a wave of criticism from users. The developers had to put in considerable effort to get Lords of the Fallen in top shape.
According to the project roadmap, since the game's release, Lords of the Fallen has received around 40 free updates, including improvements and bug fixes. Out of these, seven were major updates featuring fresh content and new game mechanics, released approximately every two months.
"Continued support for Lords of the Fallen by our team is a key factor for further sales growth," added the top manager.
Additionally, since May, the game has been available to Xbox Game Pass subscribers.
However, the developers are not planning to stop there. Coming up is the sequel to Lords of the Fallen, scheduled for release in 2026. The PC version of the title will be an Epic Games Store exclusive.
Nevertheless, Tyminski did not disclose whether Lords of the Fallen has recouped its development and marketing costs through LiveOps practices. It should be noted that the announced budget of the title is 281 million PLN ($66.6 million).
