Project N, a games marketing agency under Network N, has let go of eight employees
Approximately one-third of the workforce at the video game marketing firm Project N has been dismissed as the company narrows its focus.
News of these dismissals initially came to light through social media posts by deputy editor Jack Ridsdale and senior staff writer Miri Teixeira, both of whom were affected.
GamesIndustry.biz verified that additional layoffs have taken place after contacting Project N's parent entity, Network N, which also operates media platforms including PCGamesN, Pocket Tactics, and The Digital Fix.
The company stated that the job cuts are part of a restructuring to focus on fewer services, and some employees were reassigned to different departments.
Project N's website indicates that the agency had 22 employees, eight of whom have now been terminated.
James Binns, executive chairman of Network N, explained to GamesIndustry.biz the rationale behind the changes: "We are streamlining our services at Project N to concentrate on a smaller set of offerings, primarily video content," he said. "With fewer game releases in a strained market, we need to cut costs.
"We managed to retain three employees by moving them to other departments within the company, but unfortunately, eight positions had to be eliminated. They were all valuable team members who made significant contributions. It’s difficult to part ways, and we wish them the best in their future careers."
