The State Duma proposed to regulate in-game advertising
Russian MPs want to limit the duration and frequency of advertising in video games. The draft amendments to the federal law "On Advertising" have already been submitted to the State Duma for consideration.
This was recently reported by the Kommersant newspaper. If the bill is passed, then:
- the duration of advertising in games should not exceed 15 seconds;
- The advertisement itself will not have to appear in the game more than once every 20 minutes;
- advertising of certain types of goods (in particular, alcohol, betting, digital financial assets, and so on) will be prohibited.
In addition, advertising in games for children will have to correspond to the same age category as the game in which it is broadcast.
A representative of Astrum Entertainment in a comment for Kommersant noted that the introduction of the initiative into force will make the current model of monetization of hyper-casual games unprofitable. According to the speaker from Mensa VR, this will lead to a decrease in the number of free games on the market.
