PlayStation 5 ends Nintendo's nearly three-year dominance in US
In September, PlayStation 5 became the best-selling console in the US.
The console outperformed the competition in both revenue and units sold, according to the NPD Group.
PlayStation 5 also ended the long-lasting dominance of the Nintendo Switch in the US, where Switch has been the top-selling console for 33 straight months.
Last time Nintendo Switch left the top spot was in the US in November 2018. It was another Sony console, PlayStation 4, that dethroned it at the time.
In September 2021, American shoppers spent $ 412 million on consoles, up 49% from last year. Costs for games and accessories were $ 3.988 billion.
